Pick the main material, how wet it is, and how much of your home was affected to see a rough drying window. Marine humidity, a concrete slab, or old plaster holds moisture longer, so the sooner drying starts, the shorter it takes and the less you lose to mold.

How long does water damage take to dry in Malibu?
Most homes dry in 3 to 5 days, though hardwood, plaster, and a saturated slab can take longer. Marine humidity off the ocean slows drying, so we use commercial dehumidifiers and monitor moisture daily rather than trusting the sea breeze to do it.
Why does a concrete slab take so long to dry?
A slab and the ground beneath it hold a lot of moisture and give it up slowly. On a slab-on-grade Malibu home with a slab leak, that means more days of controlled drying and daily moisture readings before it hits a safe target.
Can I speed up drying with my own fans?
Household fans move surface air but do not pull moisture from a subfloor, plaster, a slab, or old framing, and in damp coastal air they can even move humid air around. Commercial air movers and dehumidifiers dry the structure so mold cannot start.
How do you know when it is dry?
We take daily moisture readings with meters and only pull the equipment once the readings confirm the structure has reached a safe, dry target for the coast.
